Iowa Cubs game on Monday

     Monday was a re-coop day in a way, at least for Bev and I.  Lisa and Jack made their second day at Adventureland with cousin Kamden, Bev caught up on some work and I was just plain lazy!  Monday night it was a visit to Principle Park and the Iowa Cubs baseball game with rival the Memphis Cardinals.  Good game, Cubs and a no-hitter though five and ended up with a 2 - 1 3 hitter in a pitchers duel.  Nice ballpark, but was surprised when I order a beer for myself and a Mike's hard Lemonade for Bev the the cans came in 24 oz size!  Been a while since we've been to a game....probably all parks are like that.  Good family fun at the old ballpark just can't be beat.
     Today is laundry day, can't believe the cloths etc. we've went through in just over a week, Lisa will be helping with that today while I entertain Jack.  Tonight it will be kind of a farewell dinner of sorts at Mark and Susan's, we pull out of Des Moines for Davenport Wednesday morning so we'll all get together for pizza or something bad tonight to say our good-byes.  We'll see Mark and Susan next weekend in Buffalo, Iowa for Bev's family reunion, but the kids and their families from Des Moines don't sound like they'll be attending......too bad, family is important but sometimes travel isn't that easy even if's it's only across the state.  Maybe it's time for the venue to change like it used to in years gone by, might get more participation.
     I must say after the first couple of days in Iowa the weather has changed to the better, it was great yesterday and last night and looks to continue at least through today and tomorrow......but looks like a bit more rain ahead when we hit Davenport.
     The kids had a long day yesterday with the second straight day at Adventureland and then a ball game and not getting to bed before midnight...........not sure if it will be easy to get them up for laundry day.
     We hit the road as I mentioned tomorrow in the morning, hoping to arrive at West Lake park and campground in plenty of time to get a spot before all the locals come out and grab them for the weekend.  Now that I mention that I think it's bullshit that locals bring out the campers on Wednesdays and Thursdays, park them and go back home until Friday night tying up all the spots for travelers like ourselves.  Think of your local economy folks!  I know...sour grapes!
